They did it!!

Yes, they did it alright!  The date was June 16, 2012 for the high school graduation ceremony of Madelyn and Abigail however, there was a lot that had to happen before this even took place.  Fast forward about 5 years where as I was sitting down to work on and map out their high school years I realized some of the versatility and benefits of homeschooling.  I showed the girls what was required and what was left for them to complete their high school transcript.  Nick and I gave them the option of finishing when they chose, one option was to finish early!  They individually set their course studies and decided to finish a year early and with hard work and diligence, they did it (and with a bit of sweat from my brow but, mainly theirs)!!!  They did this while serving in several ministries at home and in other states, going on mission trips out of the country, Madelyn having serious surgery requiring over a month of recovery, and nanny-ing regularly.

Madelyn graduated in May 2011 and Abigail graduated May 2012.  They decided it would be memorable and fun to have their ceremony together, especially since they are each others best friend. =)

It was such a joy and privilege to be able to have the time to spend with them, guiding them in the ways of the Lord and watching their character blossom, while adding in a little academics =).  We praise God for the freedom of educating at home.

The girls each wrote their own speeches, Nick and I only edited them (hope you enjoy hearing them below).  It was a joyous day to be remembered by all as a milestone of what God has done!  It is a fulfillment of Proverbs 3:1-6 "My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments.  For....peace shall they add to thee.  Let not mercy and truth forsake thee; bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:  So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.  Trust in the Lord with all thine heart;
and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."

These girls have been an amazing blessing to our entire family.  They have invested so much into the lives of so many other people too, from babies to elderly.  They have done it with the love of Jesus and with eternity in mind.  Their great love for people is evident in how they show it to so many.  Even though they are different people we can truly say these things about both of them!

We cannot wait to see what God will do in and through you both in the future girls, even though He's utilized you mightily already at your ages!  Keep letting your light shine for the Lord!  It is because of your willingness to be all that God has for you, and that you have given your hearts and lives to Him, that you have made us beam with joy!

We couldn't love you more!  Mama & Daddy

In the video below you'll get to watch parts of the ceremony.  We couldn't fit all of it on the blog.  You'll see the "Part 1" and "Part 2".  They are about 20 minutes long together.
 There were many, many special people that made the ceremony and reception an incredible day to remember!  We are all grateful and we couldn't have done it without you - thanks to our family, Pastor & Mrs. Cindy, church family and friends!
